SHELDON KAGAN

For more than four decades, Sheldon Kagan has been a dominant figure in Montreal's entertainment, concert production and trade show scenes. He 's been the driving force
behind a broad spectrum of successful projects - from concerts, singles parties and weddings, to exhibitions for the bridal, family, boomer and business-to-business markets.

In 1964, when he was just 14 years old, Sheldon Kagan plunged into the entertainment business as a DJ. After a few successful years on the DJ circuit, Kagan decided to take his career interests beyond the dance floor and into concert production. While still in his early twenties, Kagan went on to produce a series of other successful concerts that featured the biggest names in jazz and pop, including Loggins & Messina, Donovan, Artie Shaw, Buck Owens, Delaney & Bonnie, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Herbie Mann, Ravi Shankar, Billy Preston and Dionne Warwick.

In the mid 1970s,
Kagan decided to venture into a new area of production and organized a series of singles bashes at the Queen Elizabeth and Windsor hotels. In the late 1970s, Kagan spotted an opportunity to expand his business into new terrain: the bridal market. Realizing that brides-to-be lacked a central location where they could find wedding services, Kagan conceived Le Salon de la Mariée bridal exhibition. Le Salon de la Mariée has now been running for 33 years. He then expanded with commercial exhibitions such as Salon des Boomers Plus, Salon Affaires de Montréal and Salon de la Famille.

After four decades in the entertainment business - starting from his beginnings as a teenage
DJ through his many successful concerts and trade show productions - Kagan is still going strong today, with no plans to slow down.
